Neutrosophic method for the evaluation of the management strategy in the conservation of tapirs (Tapirus Spp.)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The tapir, like other mammals, has been closely linked to native communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon due to its role in the ecosystem and the natural regeneration of forests. In addition, it is part of the diet of various ethnic groups and is used in healing practices and hunting. However, these activities have not been effectively controlled, which has endangered this species, currently considered endangered. This study seeks to apply a neutrosophic method to evaluate the management strategy in the conservation of tapirs (Tapirus spp.). The results indicate that tapirs are essential for the natural maintenance of forests, as they disperse seeds that can become large trees. In addition, these frugivores indirectly help conserve carbon reserves in forests. Sustainable strategies must be implemented to recover tapir populations and restore the biodiversity and ecosystem services they provide.
