Abstract

Guayaquil faces challenges in traffic management, which generate congestion and affect quality of life. This research proposes an Internet of Things (IoT) platform to address this problem. The proposed strategy combines historical data analysis, in-situ observations, and precise simulations based on the data obtained. The IoT platform collects real-time data using strategically located sensors, providing a comprehensive view of traffic. Advanced monitoring enables efficient responses to unforeseen events. The results obtained are concrete, showing improvements in traffic efficiency through alternative route suggestions, road signage adjustments, and traffic light coordination. In conclusion, the platform's viability and effectiveness are highlighted, demonstrating a reduction in congestion and an improvement in vehicular flow. Its implementation seeks to improve the daily lives of Guayaquil residents and sets a precedent for future initiatives in urban mobility.
