Abstract

Currently, equal marriage has found legal recognition in 31 countries around the world. However, it is paradoxical that, in the context of Ecuador, despite this progress, legal restrictions persist, giving rise to the prohibition of homoparental adoption. This discrepancy between the recognition of equal marriage and the prohibition of adoption by same-sex couples raises a controversial issue that deserves a careful and thoughtful analysis. The present research proposes a multi-criteria Nuetrosophical method to determine the status of equal marriage and adoption rights for same-sex couples in Ecuador. With the implementation of the proposed method, it was possible to identify that, although significant progress has been made in the recognition of the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community, there are still obstacles that must be overcome to guarantee that all people can exercise their rights without discrimination or exclusions unfair.
