"All scientists shall have the right to present their scientific research results, in whole or in part, at relevant scientific conferences, and to publish the same in printed scientific journals, electronic archives, and any other media"  —  Declaration of Academic Freedom, Article 8.

Information for Authors

Progress in Physics has been created for publications on advanced studies in theoretical and experimental physics, including related themes from mathematics and astronomy. Commencing in 2014 we changed the numbering of the journal volumes: annual volumes are now numbered year-by-year beginning from volume 1 (2005), while individual issues are numbered as earlier within every year.

Progress in Physics promotes individual academic freedom according to the Declaration of Academic Freedom, known also as the Academic Bill of Rights, originally written by Dmitri Rabounski, Editor-in-Chief, in English and published in no.1, 2006 of the journal. The Declaration was then translated and published in Spanish (no.2, 2006), Dutch (no.3, 2006), Bulgarian, Romanian, French and Russian (no.3, 2007), Portuguese and Arabic (no.4, 2011), and also Slovene (no.4, 2013).

We therefore consider all works without regard to affiliations or personality of the submitters. For this reason, the articles published in Progress in Physics may not necessarily represent the scientific views of the Editorial Board or its individual members.

The Declaration of Academic Freedom applies to truly scientific submissions, i.e., submissions that are written as proper scientific papers, free of logical, mathematical and physical errors. All submitted papers need to be professional, in good English, containing a brief review of a problem and obtained results of original research. Letters related to the publications in the journal or to the events among the scientific community can be applied to the section Letters to Progress in Physics.

Authors are obliged to submit their papers in LaTeX format, which is the up-to-date standard of the professional publishing, and typed in the LaTeX template of our journal. (Scroll down the right bar of this page to view the list of software needed to type LaTeX.) Preliminary, authors may submit papers in PDF format. If the paper is accepted, the authors can manage LaTeX typing. Those authors who are unable to prepare their submissions in LaTeX format can apply to a third-party payable service for LaTeX typing: ask Ebenezer Chifu for detail. The LaTeX file(s) must be submitted to one of the following Editors: Pierre Millette and Andreas Ries. Decision about the submission will be produced by the Editors, according to the recommendations obtained from the side of our invited experts. If accepted, the final typeset will be sent to you for proofreading.

The authors of accepted papers are requested to pay the page charges: US $15.00 for one journal page. All payments should be made via PayPal (preferred) or by money order (within the USA only). Contact Florentin Smarandache for detail.

Our journal is a non-profit, purely scientific edition. Money collected from the authors cover the cost of printing and free distribution of the annual volumes along the major scientific libraries of the world. Please note that starting from 2024 we will not print issues of the journal for individuals, including authors of published articles.

Progress in Physics is an open-access journal of physics, which is published and distributed in accordance with the Budapest Open Initiative and the Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial No Derivative Works 2.5 License. This means that the electronic copies of the journal can always be downloaded and re-distributed by any person free of charge. The complete issues of Progress in Physics and individual papers published therein are accessed, in PDF format, from this page.
