Method for monitoring epidemiological profiles of Healthcare Associated Infections and antimicrobial resistance
Main Article Content
Abstract
Infections Associated with Health Care (IASS) is a public health problem worldwide. They are acquired by patients in the processes of medical care, so hospital-acquired infections warrant the administration of antimicrobials for their management, attributing a higher percentage of generating antimicrobial resistance (AMR), increased economic costs, longer stay hospital, psychological impact on patients and increases morbidity and mortality rates. One of the mechanisms to curb this problem are biosafety strategies such as; hand hygiene, asepsis and antisepsis protocols correctly carried out, reusable equipment must be sterilized, isolation of patients diagnosed early. This research proposes the development of a method for the control of epidemiological profiles of Infections Associated with Health Care and Antimicrobial Resistance. It is identified that the epidemiological reports in Ecuador on the HAIs are scarce, for which the effort to have greater epidemiological surveillance must be increased to have updated gazettes about the incidence of HAIs, in such a way that greater importance is given to this public health problem for optimal patient management and compliance with protocols to prevent infections.
