Neutrosophic Cognitive Map for the analysis of the causes and consequences of miscarriage

Abstract
Spontaneous abortion is the involuntary loss of the embryo or fetus before 20 weeks of gestation and represents one of the most common and adverse complications of pregnancy, occurring in 12 to 15% of pregnancies. This disease involves multiple risk factors of fetal and maternal origin, which generate complications and serious consequences for maternal health. The present research aims to implement a Neutrosophic Cognitive Map for the analysis of the causes and consequences of spontaneous abortion. The proposed method was implemented in a case study. The results suggest that among the main maternal causes of spontaneous abortion, age over 40 years is evident as the main factor; overweight and obesity. The main maternal consequence of spontaneous abortion identified is antepartum hemorrhage; and, in relation to the main fetal consequence, perinatal mortality was evident. These results highlight the importance of a comprehensive assessment of pregnant women to identify risk factors and complications associated with threatened miscarriage. This may allow for early interventions and management strategies that help us improve maternal and fetal outcomes during pregnancy.
