Authorship and Contributorship Policy

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems strictly adhere to the authorship guidelines set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy ensures that all listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and that contributions are clearly and ethically attributed.

  1. Authorship Criteria

Authorship is reserved for individuals who meet all the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Accountability for all aspects of the work, including accuracy and integrity.

Individuals who do not meet all four criteria may be acknowledged but should not be listed as authors.

  1. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
  • Handling all correspondence with the editorial office.
  • Confirming that the manuscript is original, has not been submitted elsewhere, and meets all journal policies.
  • Coordinating completion of Copyright Transfer Agreements and conflict of interest disclosures for all authors.
  1. Contributions and Author Order
  • All authors must agree upon the order of authorship before submission.
  • The journal does not interfere in authorship disputes, which the authors' institutions are responsible for resolving.
  • The “Author Contributions” section must be completed during submission, clarifying the specific role of each author.
  1. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after submission must:

  • Be approved by all listed authors (including those being added or removed).
  • Be submitted in writing to the editorial office with a clear explanation and signed confirmation by all parties.

No changes in authorship are permitted after acceptance without valid justification and editorial board approval.

  1. Acknowledgments

Individuals who contributed to the manuscript but do not meet authorship criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section with their permission. This includes:

  • Technical support
  • Editorial assistance
  • General supervision or administrative support
  • Funding acquisition (if not directly involved in the research)
  1. Use of AI Tools

AI tools, such as ChatGPT or Grammarly, may be used for language editing purposes only. They do not qualify for authorship and must be acknowledged in the manuscript (see the “Use of Generative AI” policy).

  1. Misconduct and Gift Authorship
  • Gift authorship (naming someone who did not contribute) and ghost authorship (excluding someone who contributed) are unethical and unacceptable.
  • Suspected cases will be investigated according to COPE’s procedures and may result in manuscript rejection or retraction.
  1. Author Identification

Authors are encouraged to register an ORCID iD and include it during manuscript submission to ensure transparency and discoverability.
